
Dhaka, Dec 22 - Rajshahi Warriors secured a five-wicket win over Rangpur Riders in a practice game for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at
the Bashundhara Sports City Cricket Ground today.
Asked to bat first, Rangpur managed to put up just 136-5 with opener Iftekhar
Ifti battling alone for the side. Ifti hit 45 ball-58, smashing six fours and
two sixes but failed to get adequate support from the other end.
Towhid Hridoy with 26 was the next best scorer while Mrittunjoy Chowdhury
made 21.
Ripon Mondol and Abdul Gaffar picked up two wickets for Rajshahi in an
economical bowling effort that was key in stifling Rangpur batting line up.
Rajshahi, however, rode on total team performance to race to the victory as
they put up 139-5 for a victory in 18.1 overs.
Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto made team-best 34 before opener Tanzid Hasan
Tamim gave the side a fluent start with 22 ball-33. Akbar Ali was not out on
25 after wrapping up the victory.
