The Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has assured that the trial in the rape and murder case of eight-year-old schoolgirl Ramisa will be completed as quickly as possible, with an emphasis on ensuring an exemplary legal process.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Ministry of Home Affairs, he said authorities are moving swiftly toward the submission of the charge sheet. However, he declined to comment on the possible punishment.

"We can assure everyone that the exemplary trial in the Ramisa murder case will be completed swiftly through the prompt submission of the charge sheet,” he said.

The minister said law enforcement agencies have been taking strong and immediate action in serious criminal cases since the current government assumed office, ensuring quick arrests and investigations.

“You cannot point to any heinous crime since we took office where the matter was ignored or arrests were not made promptly,” he added.

Regarding the case, he said the main accused, Sohel, was arrested within 24 hours of the incident along with his wife. He also noted that the accused had already given a confessional statement before the court.
