A 35 year-old woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her ex-husband in front of her house in Badda area of the capital on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Jhumur Akter, daughter of Zafor Hawladar of Titkata village in Sadar upazila of Patuakhali district.

According to one of the relative of the deceased, Jhumur had a divorce with her first husband many years ago. They have a 12-year-old son from that marriage.

Later, she married Rezaul after a love relationship, but their marriage ended after three years.

She then married an expatriate for the 3rd time and had been living with him. They also have a daughter.

On Tuesday, Rezaul went to the house of Jhumur in Badda around 9:30 pm and asked her to meet him at the ground floor of the building.

At one stage, they engaged into a heated argument and Rezaul hit Jhumur with a sharp weapon, leaving her critically injured.

She was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared her dead, said Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the hospital police camp.

Hearing screams of Jhumur, local people rushed in and caught Rezaul. He was later handed over to police, reports UNB.
