A youth was shot dead by unidentified criminals at a brick kiln in Rupsa upazila of Khulna early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Fakhrul, 32, son of Momin Uddin of Naihat village in the upazila.

Police said Fakhrul occasionally worked as a night guard at Rupsa Bricks in Srirampur which had reportedly been targeted by thieves several times.

A group  of unidentified assailants entered, shot him in the head and fled, they said.

Hearing the incident, his elder brother Farhad rushed to the brick kiln and found Fakhrul lying there with gunshot wounds.

With the help of local locals, he was taken to Rupsa Upazila Health Complex where the attending physician declared him dead, reports UNB.
