A brutal robbery at an expatriate's house in Kalapara, 1 shot, 3 injured, cash and 25 bhari gold ornaments looted
Patuakhali: A brutal robbery took place at the house of a Malaysian expatriate named Mahin in Kalapara, Patuakhali. During this, the robbers shot the expatriate's son Naim (22) in the leg. In addition, his daughter-in-law Rezbi (18) and wife Ruma Begum (40) were tied up and beaten severely, and gun point their child Tasfi (2) was robbed of 25 bhari gold ornaments, about 2 lakh cash taka and an iPhone by holding a pistol to their head. The incident took place at around 3 am on Friday in Paschim Badurtali village of Tiakhali Union of the upazila. Immediately after the incident, locals rescued the injured and took them to Kalapara Hospital. After primary treatment, the doctor on duty referred everyone to Barisal Sher-e Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Ruma Begum, wife of expatriate Mahin, said that her husband was staying in Malaysia. They had dinner and all the members of the house fell asleep. Around 2:30 to 3 am, a gang of 5 to 6 robbers entered the house by cutting the grill of the window on the south side. There were a few more members of the gang outside. Later, they tied all of them by their hands and feet and beat them severely and tried to rape her daughter-in-law. At that time, her son Naim tied her up and shot him above the knee. Then, they held a pistol to her child Tasfi's head and robbed her of 25 bhari of gold jewelry, about 2 lakh taka cash and an iPhone and left.
