517 held in 24hrs Dhaka anti-crime drive

The Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 517 people in the capital over the past 24 hours during routine operations targeting various crimes.


Police also filed 37 cases during the operation, conducted across different areas of Dhaka, said a DMP press release.

The Mirpur division recorded the highest number of arrests with 160, followed by Tejgaon with 83, Uttara with 66, Gulshan with 48, Motijheel with 45, Wari with 40, Lalbagh with 38, Ramna with 33 and the Detective Branch with 4.

Police said they seized 12,228 yaba tablets, 610 grams of cannabis, 10 mobile phones, 70 litres of diesel, seven oil drums and a pair of imitation-gold earrings, reports BSS.

Six victims were also rescued during the operation.

Legal proceedings against the arrested suspects are underway.
