Former Panchagarh-1 Lawmaker Mukta arrested

Police have arrested former Panchagarh-1 lawmaker and banned Awami League district vice-president Naimuzzaman Bhuiyan Mukta in a case filed over the alleged abduction and killing of a rickshaw puller.


Mukta was arrested from his residence in the Kazipara Malin Bazar area of Dhakkamara Union in Panchagarh Sadar upazila on this morning.

Police said they launched the operation after receiving confidential information that Mukta was staying at his residence.

Ashish Kumar Shil, inspector (investigation) of Panchagarh Sadar Police Station, confirmed the arrest to BSS.

He said Mukta was taken into custody and, after completion of the necessary legal procedures, was produced before a court.

Police said 12 cases are pending against Mukta, including the case over the alleged abduction and killing of the rickshaw puller, as well as cases filed over vandalism and arson at a BNP office, reports BSS.
