Appeal to file case against journalist for beating DU student

Kamarul Islam Rashed, a student of Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Dhaka University, has been beaten up by Al Sadi Bhuiyan, who works as a reporter of an online news portal.

The incident took place at TSC area of the university on Thursday evening.

The victim appealed to file a case with Shahbag Police Station against Al Saadi and two others.

According to the case appeal, Rashed along with his went to eat fuchka at TSC. Meanwhile, the fuchka seller misbehaved with them.

Rashed and his friends wanted to evict illegal fuchka sellers from that area. At the same time Sadi appeared there and locked into altercation with Rashed over evicting the fuchka traders.

As sequel to argument, Sadi along with four others beat Rashed.

Later, Rashed was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Regarding the case appeal, the duty officer of Shahbag Police Station said, “We have accepted the application of the case. Further action will be taken after investigation.”
