BGB seizes smuggled Indian sarees worth Tk 25 lakh in Netrokona

BGB on Thursday seized smuggled Indian sarees worth Tk 25 lakh worth from Durgapur area in Netrokona.



Netrokona, Sept 9 :  Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) on Thursday claimed to seized Tk 25 lakh worth sarees smuggled into this country from neighbouring India.

The smuggled sarees were seized in the border areas of Durgapur in Netrokona district, officials said.

Netrokona Battalion (31 BGB) Commander Lt Col ASM Zakaria said that acting on a tip-off, a BGB patrol team raided an area between Bharatpur and Barmari and seized the smuggled Indian sarees in the early hours of Wednesday.

"However, the smugglers managed to escape. The value of the seized Indian sarees is estimated to be Tk 25,11,000," he said, adding the goods have been handed over to the Netrokona customs office, reports UNB.
