A man was beaten to death by his rival over altercation on irrigation at Hathazari upazila of Chattogram district on Saturday.



A man was beaten to death by his rival over altercation on irrigation at Hathazari upazila of Chattogram district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Md. Badsha Miah, 40, a resident of No-4 Gumanmardan UP in the upazila.

Locals said Badsha Miah locked into altercation with his neighbour when he saw that the latter were irrigating to field from his pond in the morning. Later, he was beaten by his neighbour two times following the altercation, leaving him critically injured.

He was taken to a private hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Locals caught one attacker Mahabub, 57, and handed him over to police.

Hatahazari Police Station OC Nurul Alam confirmed the matter.
