Police has recovered the dead body of a man from Battalikandi village under Bashgari union in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi.
Police has recovered the dead body of a man from Battalikandi village under Bashgari union in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi.
The deceased was identified as Swapan Mia, 42, a former Bashgari Union Parishad member of ward-8.
He was the son of Hazi Siraj Mia of the village.
His body was found near the bank of Meghna river in Boroghat area on Saturday morning.
According to local and police sources, Swapan was a supporter of Ashraful Haque Sarkar, the former chairman of the Bashgari area. There has been a long-standing dispute between the current chairman Ratul Hasan Zakir and Ashraful Haque over establishing supremacy in the area.
