The fire that broke out at New Super Market, next to New Market in the capital, is being investigated to see if there was any sabotage, according to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan.
"We are still not sure whether the fire was sabotage or not, we are investigating," the home minister said, while replying to reporters after distributing Eid items to the poor at Colony Bazar in the city's Tejgaon industrial area on Sunday.
"A question arises in all our minds: why are the fire accidents happening so often and late at night? This is the question on everyone's mind. But nothing can be said before a proper investigation," added the minister.
Earlier on Saturday morning, a massive fire broke out at New Super Market, next to New Market in the capital.
A total of 28 firefighting units and teams of Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force took part in the effort to douse the fire.
Meanwhile, 32 people, including firefighters, fell sick from the heavy smoke while firefighters were trying to douse the blaze, reports UNB.
