Juba League leader shot to death in Cumilla

Cumilla, Apr 30 - A Jubo League leader was shot to death by miscreants at Gauripur West Bazar of Cumilla Daudkandi upazila on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Jamal Hossain, 38, son of Fazlul Haque and resident of Ziarkandi village of Titas Upazila. He was Joint Convener of Titas Upazila Jubo League.

Locals said Jamal was a businessman of Gauripur market. On Sunday evening they heard the sound of gunshot in the market.

Later they found Jamal lying there and took him to the hospital immediately. At the time, locals also saw three men fleeing wearing burqas.

Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Police Station, said Jamal was shot in the forehead and chest. Although he was declared dead at the Upazila Health Complex, his relatives took Jamal to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

DMCH Police Outpost in-charge Inspector Md Bachchu Mia said that the body has been kept at DMCH morgue for autopsy. - UNB
