Autorickshaw driver murdered; body found in Gazipur forest

Gazipur, Dec 11 -Police recovered the body of a 25-year-old autorickshaw driver from a forest in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district  early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Md Hridoy, son of late Sujon Miah in Hatikhola village under Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh. He used to live at a rented house in Bagmara village under Sreepur municipality.

Sreepur police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) AFM Nasim said they recovered the body from the forest near Kornapur Seatpara Connecting Road in Gosingha union around 12:45 am.

The victim came out of his house with the vehicle around 5:30 pm and he might have been murdered between 8 pm to 10 pm. Assailants then left in the jungle, he said, adding that a blood-stained knife was recovered from near the body.

The body was sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC said.

Legal action will be taken in this regard, added the OC. - UNB
