3-wheeler driver Belal killed in Ctg’s Khulshi over area rivalry.
Chattogram, Jan 28 -A CNG-run autorickshaw driver was stabbed to death allegedly by his rivals over “establishing supremacy” in Jhaotala area under Khulshi police station of Chattogram last night, said police.
The deceased was identified as Md Belal, 30.
Locals said there had long been a dispute between Babul and Mizan groups, both loyal to former Chattogram City Corporation councillor Mohammad Hiron, over controlling CNG-run autorickshaws plying on Tigerpass and Jhaotala route.
Babul group, together with another group, stabbed Belal, who was a part of Mizan group, with sharp weapons — leaving him critically injured around 10:30 pm on Saturday night.
He succumbed to his injuries on way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, said Khulshi police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Neyamat Ullah.
The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy, he said, adding that drives were on to arrest those who were involved with the murder.
No case has so far been lodged in this connection, he added. - UNB
