Man murdered in Kurigram in Clash over land dispute

Relatives and neighbours grieve the murder of a man over property dispute.



Kurigram, Feb 3 -A 58-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his rivals over a land dispute in Ulipur upazila of Kurigram on Saturday noon.

Deceased Nur Hossain was a resident of Maltibari village under Dharnibari union of the upazila.

Ulipur police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Golam Mostaf confirmed the matter, saying that there had long been a dispute between the victim Nur and his neighbour Jafar over the ownership of a piece of land in the village.

Both the groups equipped with locally-made weapons got locked into clashes on the land at noon, leaving Nur dead on the spot, the police officer said.

On information, the body was recovered from the spot and sent to Sadar general hospital morgue for autopsy, said the OC.

Two people were arrested in this connection and a legal process was underway, he added. - UNB
