School student stabbed dead for protesting eve-teasing

A teenager schoolboy was stabbed to death reportedly for protesting eve-teasing at Sreenagar upazila in Munshiganj district on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Nirob Hossain, 16, son of Delwar Hossain, a resident of Kamargaon area in the upazila. He was a 10th grader of Louhajong Model Pilot High School.

According to eyewitnesses, some youths were teasing some female students of Kazi Fazlul Haque High School in the upazila during an annual sports competition of the school on Thursday afternoon. At that time, Nirob and his classmates protested the eve-teasers.

As sequel to it, later on Friday afternoon, the eve-teasers attacked Nirob and his classmates with sharp wepons while they were hanging out in the area, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rescued him and took to Sreenagar Uapzila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Sreenagar Police Station officer-in-charge Abdulla Al Tayabi said on information, police rcovered the body and sent to Munshiganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Superintendent of police in Munshiganj Md Aslam Khan confirmed the death matter, adding that the criminals stabbed Nirob on his head and back as he protested the eve-teasing.

The process to file a case in this regard is underway and efforts are on to arrest those involved in this incident, added the SP.
