Teen arrested over raping 3-yr-old distant niece

Jhalakathi, Apr 01 — A 17-year-old was arrested over the rape of his three-year-old distant niece on Saturday night.

Sajjad Hossain was arrested by police four hours after the incident.

According to the child’s mother, Sajjad — brother-in-law of her brother—raped her child when she was praying in their home.

Sajjad fled the house leaving his mobile phone behind, after the child’s aunt witnessed the incident.

The child was later admitted to the Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital after her condition deteriorated.

The child’s mother filed a case, said Md Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Jhalakathi Police Station. - UNB
