Fired ACC officer Sharif fears becoming disappearance victim

Patuakhali, Feb 23 - Md Sharif Uddin, who has been removed as the deputy assistant director of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) fears for his life.
On Wednesday, ACC Chairman Md Moinuddin Abdullah fired Sharif under section 54 (2) of the ACC (staff) Rules, 2008.
Until his termination he served at coordinated district office of ACC in Patuakhali.
Sharif told UNB,” In my seven years of professional life in Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar I have worked against many powerful people’s corruption.”
He mentioned submitting charge sheet against 150 people in Chattogram for irregularity and corruption in land acquisition, against 20 people for issuing Bangladeshi passports to Rohingya citizens.
“I have worked against irregularities in Chattogram’s health sector and submitted report against Petrobangla’s director Ayub Khan for irregularities in a project,” he added.
“On January 30, Ayub Khan threatened to get me terminate from my job within a week which I reported to the directorate” said Sharif.
"Within 16 days I got fired from my job without any prior notice. I am hiding now fearing to become a victim of disappearance” he said.
On Thursday, Officials and employees of the ACC organised a human chain to protest the firing of Sharif. - UNB
