Man slits wife's throat, surrenders to police

Dhaka, Sept 22 - A man named Mokhlesur Rahman surrendered to the police after killing his wife by slitting her throat in Dhaka’s Pallabi area. The victim, Shamsunnahar (52), was found dead after the police recovered her body from their residence.

The incident took place on Saturday at Pallabi’s Shagufata MN Housing. According to the police, the murder was the result of a family dispute, during which Mokhlesur attacked his wife with a sharp weapon.

Nazrul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pallabi Police Station, said, “The husband came to the police station and confessed, saying, ‘I have killed my wife. Arrest me.’ We then went to their apartment, as he instructed, and found Shamsunnahar’s body."

Mokhlesur informed the police that he killed his wife due to ongoing family conflicts. The OC also mentioned that the couple has one daughter who serves in the Bangladesh Army.

The couple’s hometown is in Maribalay village, Tongibari, Munshiganj. Shamsunnahar’s body has been sent to the morgue at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. Meanwhile, Mokhlesur Rahman is being held in police custody.-UNB
