A violent clash over land in the Radhanagar union of Gomostapur upazila left one person dead and six others injured on Wednesday, local police reported.

The deceased was identified as Abdus Sattar, 45, son of Manjur Hossain from the Begpur area of Gomostapur. Police said Sattar succumbed to his injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital around 7 p.m. after being admitted for treatment.
According to police and eyewitnesses, the confrontation erupted between two groups over the ownership of state-owned land in Begpur. The dispute escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in seven people from both sides sustaining injuries. Six of the injured were initially treated at the Upazila Health Complex before being transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for further care. Despite efforts by medical staff, Sattar, one of the injured, later died from his wounds.
Authorities are actively investigating the incident. "We are working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence," said Khairul Bashar, Officer-in-Charge of Gomostapur Police Station. The situation has heightened tensions in the area, and police are increasing patrols to prevent further conflict.
