Three men, suspected of being robbers, surrendered to joint security forces after entering the Rupali Bank branch in the Keraniganj area of Dhaka this afternoon. The suspects were detained shortly after their surrender, according to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

The bank staff who had been taken hostage were safely released, as confirmed by RAB-10 Media Officer Tapash Karmaker. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The suspects were transported to the Keraniganj South Police Station for further questioning, Karmaker added.

The group entered the Rupali Bank branch in the Chunkutia Pakapul area around 2:00 PM, holding staff members hostage inside. Security forces, including army personnel, police, and RAB teams, quickly surrounded the building in an effort to secure the hostages' release and apprehend the suspects.

"We deployed 3-4 RAB teams to the scene and called for assistance from the army," said Pizus Sarker, Sub-Inspector and duty officer at the South Keraniganj Police Station. "Local sources confirmed that armed individuals had entered the bank, taken hostages, and locked the collapsible gate behind them."

Initially, the RAB was unsure of how many hostages remained inside. However, after the suspects surrendered, the situation was brought under control without further conflict.

The quick and coordinated response of law enforcement successfully prevented any casualties during the standoff.
