DSE trading ends on upward trend; index up 13.36 points

Dhaka, Dec 19 --The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended Thursday's trading with an upward trend.

The DSEX (broad index) increased by 13.36 points to 5,221.57 points, compared to 5,208.2 points in the previous (Wednesday) trading session.

The Shariah-based DSES index increased by 4.41 points to 1167.35 points, and the DS30 blue-chip index rose slightly by 8.24 points to settle at 1938.29 points.

A total of 10.14 crore shares and units changed hands through 110039 transactions, seeing a decrease from the previous session of 13.49 crore shares through 132579 transactions. A total of Tk 335.5 crore shares and bonds were traded in the DSE on Thursday, which is Tk 66 crore less than the previous session.

Out of the 397 issues (companies) traded, 119 advanced, 201 declined and 77 remained unchanged at the DSE.

The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on an upward trend of trading. The All Share Price Index (CASPI) increased by 33.46 points and settled at 14522.69 points.

On the CSE, 182 companies participated in trading. Of them, 64 companies recorded price gains, 92 companies saw declines, and 26 companies remained unchanged.

At the CSE, shares and units of 47.35 lakh changed hands through 1812 transactions. The value of trading shares and units is Tk 15.4 crore, which was Tk 15.02 crore the previous day (Wednesday). - UNB
