Police arrest 4 snatchers near Dhaka Mitford Hospital

Dhaka, Jan 11 — Police have arrested four snatchers in front of the capital’s Mitford Hospital, under the jurisdiction of Kotwali Police Station, authorities said.

The arrestees are Md. Sumon, 20, Md. Osman Gani, 21, Md. Sohel, 22 and Md. Alamin, 21.

They were arrested around 3:30am on Saturday, said Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media) of the DMP.

Four local weapons, believed to have been used by the quartet in a series of snatching incidents, were recovered from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Kotwali Police Station under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a raid in front of Mitford Hospital and arrested them.

Kotwali Police Station sources reported that the arrested individuals are active members of a professional robbery gang.

During initial interrogation, they confessed to robbing various areas of Dhaka city, including the Kotwali Police Station area.

They have multiple cases filed against them in different police stations for theft and robbery.
