Coast Guard memebrs detained five members of an alleged theft gang at Mongla, Bagerhat. UNB



Bagerhat, Mar 22 (UNB) - Coast Guard members arrested five members of ‘Sumon Bahini’, notorious gang, while they were preparing to commit theft on a commercial vessel at Mongla Port in Bagerhat district. 

The arrestees were identified as Md Jony, 19, Aliraz, 25, Swapan Munshi, 40 of Bagerhat district and Md Azim, 26 and Md Mezbah 19 of Koyra upazila in Khulna district. 

The coast guard members also seized 12 firearms, nine Yaba pills  and 25 grams of hemp from their possession. 

Tipped off, a team of Coast Guard conducted a drive  in  a boat in Bhadra office area under Sundarbans zone and arrested the five gang members along with the arms and drugs, said Lieutenant Colonel Siam-ul-Haque, media spokesperson of the coast guard. 

The arrestees were wanted in different cases with Mongla and Koyra police stations. - UNB
