More than 100 hand bombs were detonated during a fierce clash between two rival factions in Shariatpur's Zajira upazila on Saturday, as they fought for local dominance.
The confrontation erupted between supporters of Bilashpur Union Chairman Quddus Bepari and Swechchhasebak League leader Jalil Matbar. Some of the men were seen carrying red buckets filled with hand bombs, while others wore helmets for protection.
A video of the incident, which quickly went viral on social media, showed both groups hurling hand bombs at each other in an open field, triggering widespread panic in the area.
The clash took place in the morning at Durbadanga village in Bilashpur union. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after the explosions began and managed to bring the situation under control.
Local residents said the two factions have a history of violent confrontations over territorial control.
