A 24-year-old young man, who was injured in a violent attack on Saturday night following a dispute over the sale of a watermelon in Chuadanga’s Sadar upazila, died at Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Nipun Saha, son of Krishna Saha of Borobazar Para.

Nipun had been undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital and he succumbed to his injuries around 11 am.

Earlier on Saturday, a group of miscreants stabbed Nipun indiscriminately in front of Town Hall football field around 9:45 pm, leaving him injured.

Later, he was first taken to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital and then referred to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital where Nipun succumbed to his injuries.

Khaledur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said two people identified as--, Rubel Islam (35) and Amirul Islam (27), were injured in a violent attack on Friday night following a dispute over the sale of a white-fleshed watermelon in Chuadanga’s Lohapatti area.

The miscreants, numbering 20 to 30 people allegedly linked to a watermelon seller, carried out the attack on them.

Nipun took the side of Rubel and Amirul and met the tragic death after an attack, reports UNB.
