In a special gesture to mark the Bengali New Year 1432, the government has introduced a new policy aimed at improving the wages, benefits, and working conditions for outsourced service workers across government institutions. The policy, unveiled by the Ministry of Finance, is being hailed as a significant step to ensure better compensation and overall welfare for the workers.

The newly introduced Service Engagement Policy for Outsourcing Workers brings a major boost to workers by increasing their monthly service fees. It also offers a range of benefits, including festival bonuses, maternity leave, annual leave, and pension enrollment. The policy aims to ensure that workers are more fairly compensated for their services while also improving their financial security and morale.

Among the key features of the policy, service workers will now receive festival bonuses equivalent to 50% of their monthly service fee on two major festivals. In addition, workers will receive a Boishakhi bonus of 20% of their monthly service fee to mark the Bengali New Year. The policy also ensures that workers get 15 days of annual leave and mandates training related to their job responsibilities to help improve their skills and efficiency.

For female workers, the policy offers 45 days of maternity leave and ensures priority for women-friendly roles, further supporting gender equality in the workplace. To ensure workers are provided with necessary work attire, the government will provide two sets of uniforms annually, which must be worn during working hours.

In terms of financial security, the policy allows workers to enroll in the Universal Pension Scheme, which is managed by the National Pension Authority, ensuring their long-term security. Monthly payments to workers will be processed directly into their bank accounts or via mobile financial services and will be disbursed within the first week of each month.

With the introduction of this policy, the government is not only aiming to improve the quality of service delivery but also to uplift the working conditions of those who play a critical role in the functioning of government institutions. By addressing long-standing concerns about fair compensation and benefits, this move is expected to foster greater transparency and efficiency in outsourced services, benefiting both workers and the institutions they serve.
