Naogaon, Apr 7 -- A 70kg touchstone statue, worth over Tk 35 crore, has been recovered in Naogaon, police said on Thursday.

Three members of a smuggling syndicate were also held from a house in Sultanpur Dakkhin Pal Para in the district's Mahadebpur upazila, according to cops.

The arrestees have been identified as Sumon Acharya, 30 of Bobator village, Moni Mandal, 25 of Sultanpur village, and Roky Sarkar of Tatarpur Sarkar Para.

"Acting on a tip off, we raided the house of a person named Ganesh Pal on Wednesday and recovered the touchstone statue," said Azam Uddin Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Mahadebpur Police Station.

Later, police arrested the three from the house who admitted to their crime. A case has been lodged under Special Power Act, the OC said. - UNB
