Couple killed over affair in Pallabi, lover arrested
A man and his wife were brutally murdered allegedly by the woman’s extramarital lover in the capital’s Pallabi area on Wednesday afternoon.
The victims were identified as Pappu, 35, and his wife Dolon Akter Dola, 28. The incident took place at their residence on the 4th floor of a 5-storey building at Mirpur Section-11 under Pallabi Police Station.
According to police, the suspect, Gaus Mia, reportedly attacked the couple with a sharp weapon, killing both over a dispute stemming from an illicit affair, reports UNB.
Speaking to UNB, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pallabi Police Station Shafiul Alam said the double murder occurred sometime between 1:00pm and 1:30pm. “Suspect Gaus entered the couple’s flat and attacked them with a sharp object,” the OC said.
Police recovered the bodies at around 2:30pm after being informed by locals. Gaus attempted to flee the scene but was caught and taken into custody immediately, the OC added.
The bodies have been sent to the morgue at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for autopsy, said the OC.
