Thief killed in lynch-mob attack in M’singh

A suspected thief was killed in a lynch-mob attack at a local mosque in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh district early Monday.


The deceased was identified as Rana Mia, son of Amsor Ali of Hiron Palashia village in Sadar upazila.

Munsur Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge of Trishal Police Station, said a number of theft incidents occurred at Raimony Madhyapara Baitul Rahman Jam-e-Mosque over the last few months.

On Sunday midnight, local people caught a man in the mosque on suspicion theft and informed villagers through loudspeaker of the mosque.

They beat up Rana indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital morgue, reports UNB.
