Two die in separate incidents in Sirajganj

Two people, including a woman, died in separate incidents in Raigonj Upazila of Sirajganj on Saturday, police said.


A woman was killed and her granddaughter seriously injured when the auto-rickshaw they were travelling in overturned on Baikunthapur Bridge, said Masud Rana, Officer-in-Charge of Raigonj Police Station.

The victim, Rahima Begum, 50, was the wife of Ismail Hossain of Monohorpur village.

She was travelling with her granddaughter to her daughter’s home.

Later, police recovered her body and handed it over to her family.

In a separate incident, Sanjay Kumar, 29, died after coming into contact with an electric wire while irrigating a pond in Kheyailar village in the morning.

Kumar, the son of Ranjit Kumar from Sherpur Upazila in Bogura, was taken to the hospital morgue after police recovered his body.

A case has been filed at the relevant police station in connection with the incident, reports UNB.
