Man stabbed dead in Dhaka

A 47-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by a street vendor following an altercation in Dhanmondi area of the capital on Tuesday night.


The deceased was identified as Rony Khandaker, a driver by profession and son of Abdus Samad Khandaker of Chitalmari upazila of Bagerhat district.

Md Shahjalal Mia, sub-inspector of Dhanmondi Police Station, said Rony had an altercation with a street vendor over eating pitha in the area.

At one stage, the vendor hit him with a sharp weapon, leaving Rony injured.

Later, he was taken to a local hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

The body was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy, reports UNB.
