The low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal may develop into a powerful cyclone 'Dana' by Wednesday (October 23). It could strike the area between Puri in Odisha and Sagar Island in West Bengal from Thursday (October 24) to Friday (October 25) morning, with wind speeds reaching up to 120 kilometers per hour.

According to a report from Mint, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rain in both states.
Meanwhile, the governments of Odisha and West Bengal have announced the closure of schools in coastal districts and preparations are underway to evacuate residents from the most affected areas.
The weather department has forecast that the cyclone will make landfall on the Odisha-West Bengal coast this week, though the exact location is still unknown.
IMD has indicated that the low-pressure system is expected to cross the northern coast of Odisha and West Bengal between Puri and Sagar Island from the night of October 24 to the morning of October 25, with wind speeds between 100-110 km/h, and gusts potentially reaching 120 km/h.
