Cyclonic storm Fani 1500km South of Ctg may intensify

Dhaka, April 30 – Cyclonic storm Fani is likely to intensify further within 12 to 15 hour as it moved North-northwestwards further, said met office on Monday.
It was centred about 1540 km south of Chittagong port 1510 km south of Cox’s Bazar port yesterday (Monday) evening, according to the met office.
Aftab Uddin, a meteorologist of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said the cyclone is moving towards Odisha. It is likely to hit the coastal area of Bangladesh within three to four days.
Fani may intensify within 12 to 15 hours.
A bulletin of the BMD said the cyclonic storm “Fani” over Southeast Bay and adjoining area moved north-northwestwards further over the same area and was centred at 29/09 UTC within half a degree of Lat 9.0°N & 86.5°E. It is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction. A trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area.
“Such cyclone usually changes its behaviour every second. After observing its behaviour, we could say about its further movement,” said Aftab.
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Parra have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal no two as the cyclonic storm “Fani” over southeast Bay and adjoining area moved
North-Northwestwards further over the same area.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised not to venture into the deep sea.
The Met office forecast in its bulletin has said rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Sylhet division and weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country. – Staff Reporter
