Shahe Alam for stronger field-level development coordination

The areas also included law and order, preventing corruption and drug, and establishing good governance, transparency and accountability in Kurigram, Gaibandha and Rangpur districts.

He gave this instruction at a meeting at Bangladesh Secretariat here.

Shahe Alam said coordination between various departments of the field level administration should be further increased to ensure overall development and public welfare of the districts, and ordered to inform him immediately about any urgent issue related to public interest.

He advised the deputy commissioners to regularly visit all the upazilas and directed them to ensure the participation of representatives from the neighbouring Jamalpur and Lalmonirhat districts to further strengthen coordination in the law and order meeting in Kurigram.

“I believe that if we all work together, it will be possible to accelerate the development activities of the districts,” he said.

Stressing the need for mentioning the problems and possibilities of the grassroots people, the state minister said he will visit the concerned districts and inspect the actual situation of various development activities and public services.

Mir Shahe Alam advised the authorities concerned to give special importance to the cleanliness activities of the districts.

He asked the local administration, public representatives and concerned organisations to be more responsible and vigilant in waste management and cleanliness.

The fertilizer supply situation was also discussed in detail at the meeting. It has been instructed to be vigilant so that farmers can get fertilizer on time to avoid artificial crisis.
 
It was suggested that the district and upazila committees be effectively involved in the rapid recruitment of dealers for vacant posts as per the Comprehensive Policy on Fertiliser Dealer Appointment and Distribution 2026.

In the meeting, the concerned authorities presented an overall picture of various issues, including law and order situation, drug and gambling prevention, riverbank erosion, electricity, health, food and fertilizer supply in the three districts.

The meeting also informed that in addition to regular drives to control drugs, community policing and social awareness activities are being conducted involving representatives from mosques, temples and educational institutions, and local leaders.

Legal action is being taken by filing regular cases under the new Gambling Prevention Act, 2026 and operating mobile courts if necessary, and the police department is actively working in this regard.

Kurigram Deputy Commissioner Annapurna Debnath, Gaibandha Deputy Commissioner Dr Md Moniruzzaman and Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Israt Jahan virtually participated in the meeting, along with representatives from the offices of the Superintendent of Police of the three districts and the Rangpur Division Deputy Inspector General of Police, reports BSS.
