Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has announced that the Department of Youth Development will train 9 lakh young people, including 5 lakh women, by 2028 under a new skills initiative.
In a post on his verified Facebook account, Asif said the project aims to engage unemployed and untrained youths aged between 15 and 35 in economic and social activities.
The initiative, under the "Earn" project, will focus on work-oriented, inclusive, and environmentally friendly sectors. It aims to create long-term employment opportunities and foster entrepreneurship by offering training and microcredit support.
The project will prioritize inclusivity: at least 60 percent of participants will be women, with 2 percent from hill communities and 1 percent persons with special needs.
Participants will receive training in six different categories tailored to current job market demands, he added.
