CA Chairs Review on Bangladesh’s LDC Graduation

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today presided over a high-level review meeting at the Chief Adviser’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, to assess Bangladesh’s progress and preparedness for its graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status.

The meeting focused on evaluating the country’s implementation of key policies and strategies aimed at ensuring a smooth and sustainable transition to developing country status, scheduled for completion in 2026.

Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder confirmed the meeting and noted that senior government officials, economists, and development partners were present to provide updates on sector-wise readiness, including trade, investment, infrastructure, and social development.

Professor Yunus emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among ministries and agencies to address the challenges of post-graduation, particularly regarding preferential trade benefits, concessional financing, and global competitiveness.

"The transition marks a significant milestone for Bangladesh, but it also requires resilience and foresight to maintain development momentum," he said during the meeting.

Further consultations and inter-ministerial sessions are expected in the coming months to finalize the roadmap for the post-LDC era.
