Dhaka, Beijing to discuss security cooperation on Friday

Dhaka, Oct 25 – Bangladesh and China will discuss ways to strengthen security cooperation between the two countries on Friday. The two countries will discuss the possible areas of cooperation at the Home Minister-level working meeting to be held at the Secretariat from 11 am to 12 pm, a senior official said.
The two countries will sign a number of documents, including an agreement on law enforcement training cooperation between the two countries.
Chinese Minister and Party Committee Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security Zhao Kezhi arrived here on Thursday on a three-day visit to attend the meeting.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan received the minister at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12:30pm, said an official.
Before the bilateral meeting, the Chinese Minister will be given a guard of honour in presence of his Bangladesh counterpart Asaduzzaman Khan.
He will also meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the visit.
“Terrorism is our common enemy. We need to fight it together and we need to have close cooperation,” a diplomat said.
This is the highest level visit so far from China this year. The bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China elevated to the ‘Strategic Partnership of Cooperation’, which maintains a new momentum of cooperation between the armed forces of the two nations, said the Chinese side. – UNB
