
First Secretary for political affairs of the EU Delegation Sebastian Rieger-Brown also attended the meeting.
The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, where the two sides discussed various issues of mutual interests concerning Bangladesh and the European Union.
According to a press release issued by the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat, the discussions focused on making democracy more meaningful following the national parliamentary election, the ongoing reform initiatives, and the implementation of referendum verdicts.
The two sides also stressed the importance of taking necessary steps to ensure that the upcoming local government elections are held in a free, fair and credible manner.
Both sides expressed optimism that the existing relations, development cooperation and progress between Bangladesh and the European Union would be further strengthened in the future.
Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Opposition Leader Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem, MP, and Assistant Private Secretary Mohammad Nazrul Islam were present at the meeting, reports BSS.
