Indian HC stresses dialogue to resolve bilateral issues

"I have absolute confidence that there is no problem that cannot be resolved if the two countries sit down together," he said, adding that the goal should be to find solutions that create a "win-win situation" for both India and Bangladesh.

He made the remarks today while speaking to journalists after holding a meeting with Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed at his office in Bangladesh Secretariat here. 
 
Speaking about his recent meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the High Commissioner described the meeting as "exceptionally positive" and praised him as a "humble" leader who remains closely connected with the people.

He said India and Bangladesh share much more than a common border.

"We don't only share borders, we share dreams," he said, highlighting the strong historical, geographical and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

The High Commissioner said it is natural for two neighbouring countries to have differences and issues. 

Such differences, he noted, should not be seen as a failure of diplomacy or relations, adding that rather, they can be resolved through open and constructive discussions.

Trivedi also highlighted the strong bond between the people of the two countries, saying ordinary citizens on both sides want to see India-Bangladesh relations remain friendly and positive.

Recalling his own experience in Bangladesh, the High Commissioner expressed gratitude for the "love, respect and affection" he has received from the people here, reports BSS.

He said he believes the two countries can further strengthen their partnership through continued dialogue, cooperation and closer people-to-people ties.
