Chinese Ambassador Meets PM’s Defence Adviser

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam on Thursday (September 3).

The meeting was held at the Defence Adviser’s office at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen and expand existing military and defence cooperation between Bangladesh and China.

They held fruitful discussions on advanced professional training for members of the armed forces of both countries, exchanges in military education and enhancing technological capabilities.

The two sides expressed hope that greater exchanges of experience and expanded training cooperation would help them address modern military challenges and further advance bilateral relations.

The Defence Adviser recalled the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between Bangladesh and China, as well as China’s cooperation in Bangladesh’s development, and expressed hope for greater Chinese support in the future.

The Chinese ambassador reaffirmed China’s continued support for the modernisation of Bangladesh’s defence sector.

Both sides expressed their firm commitment to further strengthening the friendly relations and mutually beneficial defence cooperation between Bangladesh and China.
