The Indian High Commission hosted a send-off event on Wednesday for Bangladeshi students who are set to pursue higher studies in India under the ICCR scholarship program.
During the event, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, expressed optimism about the future of India-Bangladesh relations, highlighting the crucial role that the youth of both nations will play in nation-building and in fostering peace, prosperity, and development.
Addressing the departing students, High Commissioner Verma welcomed them to this new chapter in their academic journey, emphasizing the significance of education and educational exchanges in strengthening the people-to-people ties between India and Bangladesh.
This year, approximately 550 Bangladeshi students have been awarded the prestigious ICCR scholarship, allowing them to pursue higher education in renowned Indian institutions, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and Delhi University. The students will enroll in undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs across a diverse range of disciplines, such as engineering, medicine, law, linguistics, fine arts, and social sciences.
The High Commission highlighted the ICCR scholarship program's pivotal role in deepening mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries. It reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the program and enhancing educational exchanges between India and Bangladesh.
