Bangladesh Seeks Stronger Trade Ties with Azerbaijan
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today emphasized the importance of enhancing business and trade relations with Azerbaijan during a meeting with its non-resident ambassador, Elchin Huseynli, at the State Guest House Jamuna.
Professor Yunus described Azerbaijan as "a good friend" and expressed a desire for deeper economic collaboration. His press office highlighted his longstanding ties with the Azerbaijani people, leadership, and academic institutions.
The discussions also covered the upcoming COP-29 summit in Baku, where significant topics such as energy, trade, and a proposed air services agreement between the two nations will be on the agenda. Professor Yunus is set to attend the summit, which will gather approximately 32,000 participants to address critical issues, including climate finance.
Ambassador Huseynli echoed the sentiment for stronger trade relations, noting Azerbaijan's interest in exploring new business opportunities. He mentioned a recent foreign office consultation held in Baku in June, aimed at fostering bilateral collaboration. The ambassador also highlighted Azerbaijan’s initiative to establish an air services agreement with Bangladesh to facilitate better connectivity.
