UK Emergency Medical Team Arrives in BD to Aid Injured Students

A UK Emergency Medical Team (EMT), funded by the UK government, has arrived in Bangladesh to provide specialized medical care for students injured during the July-August protests. The team will operate at the National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) from November 5 to November 18, according to the British High Commission in Dhaka.


This deployment follows a formal request for assistance from the interim government. The team includes an orthopedic surgeon, a physiotherapist and rehabilitation expert, and a clinical coordinator, all of whom bring extensive experience in treating patients in conflict-affected regions globally.

In a related development, the Turkish government has also agreed to provide advanced treatment to seven Bangladeshi students injured during the protests. This support follows a request from Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure the injured receive better medical care.
