FS Urges Enhanced Diplomatic Engagement in S. Asia

Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin today called on Bangladesh’s heads of missions in South Asia to intensify diplomatic engagement at the bilateral level to promote peace, stability, and economic development across the region.


The call was made during a virtual meeting with Bangladesh’s High Commissioners and Ambassadors to South Asian countries, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting focused on reviewing the current state of bilateral cooperation, consular services, and various administrative matters concerning the missions.

During the discussion, Foreign Secretary Uddin stressed the importance of combining diplomatic efforts with regional cooperation to foster long-term peace, stability, and economic growth in South Asia. He highlighted that Bangladesh’s strategic diplomatic engagement can play a pivotal role in advancing these objectives.

The heads of missions shared updates on their ongoing initiatives and efforts in strengthening bilateral ties with host countries.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Additional Foreign Secretary and Inspector General of Missions, Muhammad Nazmul Hoque, Director General (Administration), and Ishrat Jahan, Director General (South Asia).
