Nepal's Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanshyam Bhandari, emphasized the growing economic ties between the two countries, highlighting progress in trade, connectivity, energy, and tourism. He pointed to the historic 40 MW hydroelectricity flow from Nepal to Bangladesh as a key example of energy cooperation that benefits not only the two nations but the entire South Asian region.

The Nepal Embassy hosted an event on Wednesday evening titled "Trade and Investment Linkages between Nepal and Bangladesh." During the event, the Ambassador urged Bangladeshi business leaders to form partnerships with Nepal’s business community and explore investment opportunities in Nepal.

Sushil Gyewali, CEO of Nepal’s Investment Board, provided a detailed presentation on Nepal’s investment climate, highlighting key sectors such as energy, tourism, agriculture, ICT, urban infrastructure, health, manufacturing, and mining. He outlined Nepal’s efforts to attract foreign direct investment through strategic initiatives aimed at creating a favorable business environment.

Dr. Khandoker Azizul Islam, Executive Member of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), spoke about Bangladesh’s investment priorities and reaffirmed the commitment to strengthen bilateral ties with Nepal in mutually beneficial sectors.

Abdul Awal Mintoo, Chairman of National Bank Ltd. and former FBCCI president, shared his views on doing business in Nepal, stressing the importance of consolidating economic relations between the two countries.

The event included an interactive session where CEO Gyewali and Ambassador Bhandari addressed questions and concerns from business leaders. The gathering attracted prominent figures from Bangladesh’s business community, including representatives from the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).
