Saudi Arabian Trade Minister Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi emphasized the importance of developing a robust import-export strategy to bolster the economic relationship between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia. The proposal was made during a meeting with Bangladesh's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Md. Delwar Hossain, in Riyadh today.

Dr. Al-Qasabi reiterated Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support for Bangladesh, offering his ministry’s full cooperation in addressing any trade or economic challenges faced by the South Asian country. He highlighted the need for the Bangladesh Ambassador to collaborate closely with the Saudi Business Council, aiming to prepare an in-depth report outlining Bangladesh’s business landscape, challenges, opportunities, and demands.

The Saudi minister encouraged Ambassador Hossain to identify key Saudi importers and exporters, engage in detailed dialogues, and thoroughly assess both the obstacles and opportunities for expanding bilateral trade. Special attention was given to the potential of strengthening cooperation in maritime and agricultural sectors, areas that offer significant promise for both nations.

Reaffirming the deep-rooted ties between the two countries, Dr. Al-Qasabi noted that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman holds great respect for Bangladesh. Ambassador Hossain reciprocated, reiterating Bangladesh’s commitment to deepening its economic and trade relations with Saudi Arabia.

Ambassador Hossain also presented Dr. Al-Qasabi with a copy of the newly released Saudi-Bangladesh Economic Mapping report, compiled by the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Saudi minister commended the initiative and assured that his ministry would undertake a comprehensive review of the report. He expressed interest in collaborating with Bangladesh to implement the recommendations and further strengthen the economic partnership.

S.M. Nazmul Hasan, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, also participated in the meeting.
