The government has appointed former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Moinul Islam as Bangladesh's Ambassador to Poland, suspending his post-retirement leave (PRL) with benefits. A gazette notification confirming the appointment was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on April 10, 2025.

Moinul Islam's appointment as ambassador is effective for two years, starting from the same date. The appointment comes with the condition that he sever all ties with other professions, businesses, or employment in government, semi-government, or private sectors.

Moinul Islam had served as IGP starting on August 6, following the fall of the Awami League government amid a student-led uprising. However, he was removed from the post on November 20, 2025, and was succeeded by retired police officer Baharul Alam.
