India's push-ins not right, says security adviser
National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman on Wednesday termed the reported push-ins from India as inappropriate, stating that such actions must be carried out through formal channels.
"Any repatriation must be done through proper procedures. Bangladesh will accept only those who are confirmed to be its citizens," he told reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Responding to a question on recent media reports, he said, “We are aware of the developments and are examining each case individually. Proof of Bangladeshi citizenship is essential.”
He underscored that informal push-ins are unacceptable and reaffirmed Bangladesh’s position on handling such matters through diplomatic means.
When asked whether the issue would be raised with New Delhi, the adviser said that Dhaka is already in communication with the Indian authorities.
Earlier, he read out a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs concerning India-Pakistan relations.
According to reports, India’s Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly pushed 66 individuals—identified as Indian Muslims but labelled as Bangladeshis—across the Khagrachhari border on Wednesday morning.
